The Tabloid Times
by setantasports.com staff, 21 November 2008
Welcome to our new-look Tabloid Times, where we provide an overview of all the morning papers for you to peruse each morning.
‘Arsenal at war’, ‘Civil war’, ‘Gallas goes to war’. It’s no surprise to see what is dominating the news agenda on Friday morning.
The tabloids predictably have a field day with an explosive interview from soon-to-be-ex-Arsenal skipper William Gallas, who has done his under-pressure manager no favours whatsoever.

Cesc Fabregas is the newspapers' choice to succeed Gallas. Given that the other two possibilities are the mild-mannered Bacary Sagna and the harmless Emmanuel Eboue, we suspect The Sun might be right.
The Sun are confident enough to declare that the 25-year-old who Gallas has accused of having a bad attitude is Robin van Persie, and that a row alluded to by the Frenchman involved Van Persie and Theo Walcott at half-time of the 4-4 draw with Spurs.
There are also rumblings of discontent at Manchester City with The Daily Mail claiming that both Michael Ball and Dietmar Hamann are to be relegated to the reserves after refusing to come on as substitutes in the 2-2 draw with Hull City.
In a deeply unimaginative transfer tale, The Sun reports that Russia star Andrei Arshavin will be a target for Arsenal and Tottenham in the transfer window. By the way, June called and it wants its news back.
The Mirror is in better form though and brings us the news that Carlton Cole is to sign a new contract at West Ham, Blackburn will rival Wigan for South American striker Cristian Benitez and Middlesbrough and Bolton are battling it out for Ferrie Bodde.
In other transfer news, The Mail reports that Crystal Palace are hoping to sign Ben Sahar, Newcastle have targeted Germany left back Marcel Schafer and Bolton have stepped up their interest in Hungary’s Szabolcs Husti.
There is mixed injury news for Manchester United fans; The Sun claims Paul Scholes will be fit for the upcoming City clash but The Mail reports that Wes Brown will not play again this year after undergoing surgery.
We end with a moment of light relief, if you will, with The Sun reporting that Jesper Gronkjaer receives two pornographic films as a win bonus from FC Copenhagen. Premier League players will be scrambling to get that written into their contracts.
And it would be remiss not to mention a stunning headline from The Sun, who greet the news that Michael Jackson has adopted Islam with ‘The way you Mecca me feel’. Brilliant, brilliant work.
